HI, I‘M DR. JAY cHAPLIN, PhD

“ Understanding your treatment isn’t just about the science—it’s about reclaiming peace of mind.

With over 30+ years in biochemistry, immunology, and cancer research, I’ve spent my career designing and testing therapies that push the boundaries of what’s possible in medicine. But the heart of my work has always been the same: helping people understand and best use the science that’s shaping their lives.

Experience You Can Trust

After decades in cancer research and drug development, I began to see two parallel needs: the science was advancing faster than ever, while people going through treatment often felt overwhelmed and unsure what to believe.

I realized I could help bridge that gap. While continuing my work developing next-generation cancer therapies, I also wanted to make the science meaningful for the people living it—patients, families, and caregivers who deserve clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.

That’s why I created Elevating Cancer Treatment: to translate complex medical information into practical, compassionate guidance. Whether it’s for you, someone you love, or the patients you support, my goal is to help you understand your treatment plan, ask better questions, and move through care with strength and hope.

Education and experience

I hold a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a focus in Immunology, and a Master’s degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry. My academic research explored how the immune system recognizes and responds to disease—knowledge that continues to shape every aspect of my work.

Over three decades in vaccine development, drug discovery, and cancer research, I’ve helped design and evaluate new therapies aimed at improving safety and effectiveness.

Career highlights include:

  • Developing an autoimmune therapy that advanced from concept to clinical trial.
  • Pioneering immuno-oncology approaches to help the immune system target solid tumors (which account for 90% of cancers).
  • Leading cross-disciplinary research teams focused on immune regulation and targeted therapies.
  • Translating complex biological mechanisms into practical, patient-centered applications.

This experience taught me that every detail—from biochemistry to mindset—affects outcomes. I bring that same precision and compassion into my work with clients, helping them understand their treatments, minimize side effects, and feel confident in their decisions.

How it all began

A Lifelong Pursuit of Understanding

For as long as he can remember, Dr. Chaplin has been drawn to science. As a child, books were both an escape and a lifeline—he read every single book in not just his elementary school library, but also his middle school, high school, town library, and even the neighboring towns’ collections. He had a photographic memory and read three pages a minute and devoured everything he could get his hands on, from physics to biology to the Yellow Pages (yes, for fun).

Growing up in an unstable home, science gave him something he couldn’t always find around him: predictability. “If you knew how the system worked, you could predict the outcome,” he says. That sense of order, and the idea that he could figure things out for himself, became a refuge. By high school, Jay was teaching himself chemistry experiments. Eventually, taking over the teachers' role of putting on demonstrations for multiple classes, showing his peers how the natural world worked and blowing their minds.

Compassion Forged in Crisis

Dr. Chaplin’s deep sense of caring and loyalty was forged in the crucible of the AIDS crisis in the late 1980s. As a young man, he witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of a disease that stole lives and hope, leaving families and communities shattered. The lack of effective treatments, the fear, and the profound suffering he saw ignited a lifelong commitment: to reduce suffering, increase quality of life, and relentlessly push science forward.

Since then, he has been at the forefront of bringing innovative therapies to life. He helped move an autoimmune therapeutic from concept to clinic and is currently developing immuno-oncology therapies designed to help the immune system fight solid tumors (90% of cancers). His work is a direct response to the suffering he witnessed, driven by a powerful desire to make a tangible difference.

Bridging Science and Humanity

Today, Dr. Chaplin combines three crucial roles, all aimed at bridging the gap between complex science and real-life human needs. As a Medical Advocate & Educator, he works 1:1 with individuals, helping them optimize treatment benefits and minimize suffering by explaining lab results, clarifying treatment details, and suggesting evidence-based strategies. As a dedicated Drug Designer, he continues to create next-generation cancer therapies, striving for safer, more effective treatments. Finally, as a science communicator he decodes complex topics like immunology and drug development, empowering individuals and caregivers to understand their regimens and make informed decisions. His mission is clear: to translate scientific rigor into compassionate, real-world impact.

The Human Side of Jay

When he's not researching or writing, he loves hiking and exploring the outdoors with his wife and daughter—it’s where he does his best thinking. He is especially obsessed with Yellowstone National Park and has visited 25 times.  He also has a soft spot for Nespresso coffee, BMW motorcycles, and vintage science books—not for the facts, but for the wonder they capture. He still loses hours sketching molecules and reaction pathways just for fun.

My personal motto: "If something can be made clearer, kinder, or more useful—start there."
